CONSULTA DA COMISSÃO EUROPEIA SOBRE A CONTAMINAÇÃO DAS SEMENTES COM OGM!

Depois de um longo período de silêncio a Comissão Europeia relançou o processo de alteração das Directivas das Sementes por forma a que se legalize um patamar de contaminação com organismos geneticamente modificados (OGM) nas sementes convencionais, incluindo as biológicas.

Até 6 de Junho de 2007 está disponível na Internet um questionário, que a Comissão divulgou a apenas algumas entidades e só recentemente se tornou do conhecimento público. Este questionário é a primeira oportunidade que os europeus têm de dizer o que pensam sobre a contaminação com transgénicos das sementes convencionais e biológicas.

O objectivo, já anunciado, da Comissão, é de permitir a contaminação até 0,3% ou 0,5% ou 0,7%, consoante as espécies. Mas se as sementes estiverem contaminadas, torna-se impossível manter como até aqui uma cadeia alimentar sem OGM. É essencial que sejam rejeitadas todas as tentativas de legalizar uma presença permanente e irreversível logo no primeiro elo da cadeia alimentar!

A Comissão optou por fazer a consulta só em inglês, e só através da internet. O questionário está em: https://ec.europa.eu/yourvoice/ipm/forms/dispatch?form=Seedlabel .

As perguntas são complicadas, enviesadas, e por vezes tão ambíguas que se torna difícil responder. O formulário contém perguntas de múltipla escolha e também espaços para comentários adicionais (só aceitam 200-300 caracteres – são minúsculos!).
